FAQ

What are your working days and hours?

Carolina Custom Hardwoods maintains regular hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Saturday.

Do you offer furniture moving or will you move our furniture before an install?

We normally DO NOT move customer’s furniture. Moving furniture out of the rooms where flooring is to be installed is the customer’s responsibly due to insurance reasons.

Do you remove carpet, vinyl, Tile, etc?

YES. We will quote you on the removal of your existing floor.

Is it very dusty? Do you sand dustless?

We do use a dust containment system as well as hang plastic from doorways and cover unmoveable items. Most of our customers say the dust is not too bad. We do receommend that you change your air conditioner filters after the installation is complete.

Do we need to be here when you are working or can we be on vacation?

You do not need to be present during the installation. We provide a lock box on site and you are welcome to go on vacation while we work.

Do we need to stay out of the house during sanding?

The sanding process is very loud and floor finishes contain strong chemicals. We recommend leaving the house usless you have a seperate floor you can stay in away from the installation area.

Is it true that hardwoods are better for people with allergies and asthma?

YES! Allergist recommend that people with allergies live in an environment with wood floors, which do not hold dirt, dust, mites, and mold.

What exactly is 'recoating' the floor?

Recoating is when we buff the existing floor with a metal mesh fiber disk before applyting 1 coat of finish. This is a great way to restore your floors natural wood beauty.

How do you know when your floor only requires 'recoating'?

A recoat can be done providing the floors have never been waxed (pledge, Endust, Murphy’s Oil). Also, recoating will not get any dirt from the pores of the wood.
